History of mhhe
Four subject centres of the Higher Education Academy (then the Learning and Teaching Support Network) came together in 2001. A seminar was arranged, held in York the following year, for all with an interest in learning and teaching about mental health in higher education. See here for further details.
Enthusiasm generated there resulted in a successful bid to the LTSN development fund for funding for the Mental Health in Higher Education project. The Senior Project Development Officer, Jill Anderson, began work on the project in January 2003. Lynn Tang joined mhhe as Project Development Officer in July 2006.
A UK-wide project, mhhe also received funding from the Department of Health (section 64) for development of a mental health educators network in England during 2004-2007 .
Three years on, the project has evolved into a collaboration between the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and the Centre of Excellence in Interdisciplinary Mental Health at the University of Birmingham (CEIMH), employing a project development officer (four days a week) and a senior project development officer (three days a week).
