Project title: Getting to grips with participation - initial training for service users and carers who want to get involved

 

The project will address the sometimes complex area of induction training for service users and carers who want to participate in the training of social workers but who are not experienced in making presentations, interviewing or participating in formal meetings. At NEWI, a key development has been the validation of a module ‘Participation in Social Work Education' which enables service users and carers to gain academic credit.

Building on the existing work of both colleges in providing induction training, Liz and Pam will begin with a reciprocal evaluation of current induction processes and the above named module. They will then develop materials based on what service users and carers say has been helpful. The evaluation will be written up collaboratively for publication.
