Themes : Increasing attention is being paid to the impact of alcohol and drugs on individuals, families and communities. Government policy has begun to recognise and reflect the social harms caused by problematic use, not just the impact on people’s health and the criminal justice system. The taskforce review of social work has included people with drug and alcohol problems as one of the key areas of practice for today’s social workers and it is an area that Q and PQ programmes need to prepare social workers to work in. This event is aimed at academics responsible for social work programme content at Q and PQ levels. It will be suitable for heads of departments and any module managers in the areas of adult, children and families social work practice as well as those running modules relating to values and skills.
