Interdisciplinary Education

Service users stress the value of workers who are able to work together effectively, across disciplinary and organisational divides.  Interprofessional education has been recognised as key to that.  Without opportunities for educators too to learn together to work together, the potential for interprofessional learning opportunities for students will be compromised.

mhhe aims, through increasing understanding across the disciplines , to nurture conditions in which interdisciplinary education initiatives can thrive.

A note on terminology: Service users and carers are key partners in interprofessional education initiatives.  The term 'interdisciplinary education' is prefered to the more widely used 'interprofessional education' in order to acknowledge their important contribution.
