Pedagogic research

There is a growing interest, across disciiplines, in the relationship between teaching and research.

  • How is mental health research drawn upon in teaching?
  • What examples are there of pedagogic research in the field of mental health?
  • What role do users and carers have to play in the above?

Our partner, the Centre for Excellence in Mental Health and Social Work at Middlesex University has an  Enhancing Pedagogical Research Group . There is a useful bibliography on pedagogic research and development, and the scholarship of learning and teaching is a key strand of the work of the Higher Education Academy - see here.

mhhe is interested in furthering debate about the teaching/research nexus as this relates to learning and teaching about mental health.   We held an event on this topic in 2005 - Researching learning and teaching about mental health - and further activity is planned.

mhhe is represented on the editorial board for the Journal of Mental Health Training, Education and Practice.  This peer reviewed journal has a fast turnaround from submission to publication, and is a good source of papers on recent research studies.

Please contact us if you have an interest in the area of pedagogical research or are able to add to our collection of resources.
